Most Heartwarming Moments in Christmas Movies

It's a Wonderful Life

When the people from Bedford Falls flood George Bailey's home to give him money so he can save his business.

Why it's so sweet:

All of George's life he's been stuck. He put all of his dreams on hold so he could help people. But at this moment, he is reminded of how wonderful his life truly is, even if it didn't turn out exactly how he'd imagined it. People tell him how much he means to them as they poor in his door. My favorite part is when his little brother, the war hero, that George has been jealous if for so long, arrives and gives a toast, "A Toast! To my big brother George, the richest man in town!"

Home Alone

When Kevin runs down stairs believing Santa would bring his family back.

Why it's so sweet:

The entire movie Kevin has thought he made his family disappear because of the awful things he said. Meanwhile, his mom felt like the worst mother in the world. She left her baby at home and she didn't know if he was even safe. Now, Kevin thinks Santa brought his family back for Christmas. When he runs downstairs, he is so excited. Then we see the hope fade from his eyes when the house is empty.  Finally, Kevin turns around to see his mom. She looks at him, tears in her eyes and says, "Oh, Kevin I'm so sorry." Then he runs to hug her. It's a beautiful reunion.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas

When the Grinch brings all of the Christmas presents and decorations back to the Whos.

Why it's so sweet:

We don't know what made the Grinch so angry and isolated, but when somebody wants so badly to take joy away from others it's probably because there's something missing in their own life. When he hears the Whos singing he is so overwhelmed by the fact that they could still find joy even without all of their gifts. His heart grows three sizes and he races down the cliff to give everything back. Then the Whos show total kindness and forgive him and invite him to join them in their celebrations.

Home Alone

When the old man is reunited with his son and granddaughter.

I never said there would only be one scene per movie. ;) This scene happens soon after the scene where Kevin's family is all reunited. He goes to the window and sees the nice old man hugging his granddaughter and son. This old man was kind to Kevin when he was scared and alone. He also saved his life from those criminals! But, Kevin encouraged him to talk to his son. In a way, he saved his life too by giving him something to live for again.

A Charlie Brown Christmas

When Charlie's friends decorate his tree to cheer him up.

Charlie Brown struggles with depression. It's very clear that he is having a hard time during the holidays as many people do. He tells Linus, "I think there must be something wrong with me. I just don’t understand Christmas, I guess. I might be getting presents and sending Christmas cards and decorating trees and all that, but I’m still not happy. I don’t feel the way I’m supposed to feel." Throughout the rest of the movie Charlie continues to feel this way and he thinks that nobody likes him. When his friends come together to cheer him up it means so much.

Conclusion:

There are so many Christmas movies and everyone has their favorites. These are my four favorite Christmas movies, but I know there are a lot of heartwarming moments in other ones too. What are you favorite sweet moments in Holiday movies? Share them with us in the comments!
