MOVIES THIS WEEKEND: JUNE 2
Starting this June, I'm going to be publishing a weekly post telling you, the faithful, faithful listener, what is worth seeing (or maybe not worth seeing) this weekend at the movies.
1. WONDER WOMAN
Before she was Wonder Woman she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained warrior. When a pilot crashes and tells of conflict in the outside world, she leaves home to fight a war to end all wars, discovering her full powers and true destiny.
CHARLIE: Make sure to see this this weekend. People are saying that it is the best DCEU movie to date (which is not saying much). However, the trailers look legitimately good, check out our episode below to get a better idea of how good this could be.
2. CAPTAIN UNDERPANTS
Two overly imaginative pranksters named George and Harold, hypnotize their principal into thinking he's a ridiculously enthusiastic, incredibly dimwitted superhero named Captain Underpants.
CHARLIE: See this one with your kids. It will definitely not be a classic of the same caliber as Disney or Pixar, but it will be a fun, goofy time for you and your kids.
INDIE PICK OF THE WEEK: I, DANIEL BLAKE
After having suffered a heart-attack, a 59-year-old carpenter must fight the bureaucratic forces of the system in order to receive Employment and Support Allowance.
CHARLIE: Though already released in the UK, screenings are coming to the US this weekend. Make sure to take a look at some of the reviews for this one before seeing it. The critics have highly praised this movie, but its political and dramatic tendencies might ruffle some feathers.
