New Trailer for 'Logan Lucky' Teases the "Hillbilly Heist"
Logan Lucky, a new movie from Steven Soderbergh (director of Oceans Eleven, Twelve and Thirteen) looks to be one thing and one thing only, a super fun movie.
Basically, it's a heist movie featuring a cast of cartoonish and hilarious characters (sound familiar) who are haphazardly planning to rob a NASCAR race. As far as the story goes, that's all you need to know, but the cast is a different story.
The two main characters are brothers played by Channing Tatum and Adam Driver, actors that have appeared in blockbusters, comedies and dramas a plenty. This movie looks to be a perfect fit for them and their skills. The real surprise, however, and probably biggest departure is from Daniel Craig. Craig plays a high-pitched, giggly, southern pyrotechnics expert who, if the trailer is an example, is going to steal every single scene he's in.
I've been missing movies like this. Fun and well-made goofiness is what I grew up on and even though that demand has recently been filled by superhero movies, this one looks to be getting back to it.
The only thing that would raise a concern on this one is the fact that the writer, Rebecca Blunt, has never written anything else before (according to imdb.com). But hey, every great writer has to have a first great movie, let's hope this is hers.
