MOVIES THIS WEEKEND: JUNE 9
1. THE MUMMY
An ancient princess is awakened from her crypt beneath the desert, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia, and terrors that defy human comprehension.
CHARLIE: When the first trailer of this came out (hilarious Tom Cruise isolated scream included) I was very against this movie. Mostly cause it looked bad, but also because I really don't want any more remakes. However, I've changed my tune slightly and think that this could potentially be a fun time. It's the start of the Monsterverse or the Dark Universe or whatever, which I'm definitely not against.
2. IT COMES AT NIGHT
Secure within a desolate home as an unnatural threat terrorizes the world, a man has established a tenuous domestic order with his wife and son, but this will soon be put to test when a desperate young family arrives seeking refuge.
CHARLIE: Not unlike the poster for this movie, the trailer doesn't give you a whole lot to go on. All you need to know is that this is going to be a creepy (probably slow) and quiet horror movie. A24 is making it, which is always a good sign.
