MOVIES THIS WEEKEND: JULY 28
1. ATOMIC BLONDE
An undercover MI6 agent is sent to Berlin during the Cold War to investigate the murder of a fellow agent and recover a missing list of double agents.
CHARLIE: The more I see about this movie, the more I want to see it. From the cold and dark feel to expertly crafted action sequences, this movies looks to be one of the underrated gems of the year.
Is it possible to be both very attracted to and very afraid of Charlize Theron? Yes, and it's a good thing. Listen to our episode on the trailer below.
2. THE EMOJI MOVIE
Gene, a multi-expressional emoji, sets out on a journey to become a normal emoji.
CHARLIE: Meh. That's all I really have to say about it. I'm not gunna see it, but if you have kids at least you get to hear Patrick Stewart's voice come out of a walking piece of sh**. That's worth something, right?
3. BRIGSBY BEAR
After being freed from the kidnappers he thought were his parents, a man sets out to make a movie of the only TV show he has ever known.
CHARLIE: Kyle Mooney is a weird guy, yes. This movie looks super weird, yes. However, this movie looks interesting, emotional and decently funny. I'm kind of excited about seeing it although I'm not sure how many theaters it will be in.
It's hard to put into words why it looks good so I'm putting the trailer below. I'm also putting a sketch from Kyle Mooney's pre-SNL days that cracks me up to get a glimpse at his style of humor (I'm guessing it's not for everyone).
